Teatro Petruzzelli

Bari

The Teatro Petruzzelli is the most important cultural venue in Bari and the fourth biggest Italian theatre

The Teatro Petruzzelli is a central element of the artistic and social history of the city of Bari. In October 1991, after the last recital of Vincenzo Bellini’s “Norma”, it has been destroyed by an arson. The total reconstruction started in the second half of 2006 and ended in 2008, respecting the ministerial order of “where it was, as it was”. On the basis indeed of the clear indication of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Activities and Heritage, that in order to recreate the original atmosphere, ordered that the survived parts had to be exploited and what had been destroyed had to be accurately reproduced, by adding the necessary technical innovations.
